DIY Sprays to Fight Fleas Easily
Fleas are a menace for your dog and can become a major headache for you too. Flea problems are best addressed at the earliest. While there are many ways to tackle it, you must look at homemade solutions. With natural ingredients, a DIY flea spray can take care of the problem effectively. There are a whole bunch of organic ingredients available in nature that can help your dog stay flea-free.
1. Apple cider vinegar can be an effective spray
A DIY flea spray that can be quickly put together at home is one with apple cider vinegar as the basis. It is an ingredient that maintains the pH levels at an acceptable level. Mix 6 cups of ACV (apple cider vinegar) to 4 cups of water. Add a pinch of sea salt to this mix, and pour it into a bottle with a spray nozzle. Generously spray as you make sure you avoid the eye area.
2. Essential oil spray
Sweet almond oil is known to be magical when it comes to preventing ticks or fleas. Using this essential oil as a base, add a drop or two (organic and pure essential oils are expensive and strong) of geranium, bay laurel, common myrrh oil, and atlas cedar. These oils are therapeutic and will ensure that the fleas stay away. This DIY flea spray can be massaged into the dog’s coat; it is gentle on the scalp but effectively takes care of the problem.
3. Lemon water sprays
A simple spray that consists of 2 cups of water and ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemon is bound to take care of the flea problem. Such a DIY flea spray is easy to prepare while being effective for a minor tick/flea problem. This spray will also help to leave your canine feeling and smelling fresh. If you would like to convert this into bath water, you need to add the dog’s shampoo or soap to this spray.
4. Neem or rosemary
Neem trees may not be well-known around these parts, but in Asian regions, they are used widely as insect repellent. Making a diluted solution of neem oil and water is a perfect solution for fleas. This DIY flea spray is great, but for a more concentrated solution, you may rub the neem oil into the affected areas. Drop rosemary leaves in water, and let the water come to a boil. Once cooled, you can use this solution to take care of the fleas. Such sprays take care of the fleas and are also safe for your pet.
A flea problem can be easily tackled with a DIY flea spray. These sprays are natural, organic, and effective. Pick one of these solutions before you talk to a veterinarian.
