5 Easy Recipes for Arthritis Patients

Arthritis is a name given to a condition that causes inflammation along a single or several joints in the body. The disease progresses with age and can lead to severe pain, stiffness, and restricted joint movement. There are multiple types of arthritis, which can be treated with medication, dietary changes, physiotherapy, and even surgery. Here are some quick recipes that help soothe arthritis:

1. Cherry smoothie
Smoothies form a great option to treat arthritis. Fresh fruits like cherries, mangoes, and oranges are rich in antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals that aid in maintaining overall health and fighting off infections. Furthermore, these smoothies, when made with yogurt or kefir, strengthen your gut health, thereby reducing inflammation. For this smoothie, you need to blend a banana and water until they are both smooth. Add cherries and pineapple pieces to this and blend until the mixture acquires a thick consistency.

2. Turmeric chicken
Chicken prepared with turmeric is considered extremely healthy. This is because turmeric offers anti-inflammatory properties that aid in lowering the symptoms associated with the disease. Additionally, the spice also has analgesic properties that help lower pain associated with arthritis. In a pan, stir some turmeric with oil. To this, add boneless and skinless chicken and let it cook till it acquires a brown shade. Later, add rinsed quinoa, veggies of your choice, chicken broth, and some garlic to it. Let the mixture simmer for 25 minutes and serve.

3. Garlic beans
Garlic comprises components that lower the effect of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the body. And beans are rich in protein, folic acid, iron, and fiber that aid in boosting the overall immune system, thereby preventing problems like joint pain. Sauté some garlic in olive oil and to it add boiled soybeans, garbanzo beans, or cannellini beans, along with a few vegetables of your choice.

4. Baked salmon
Salmon is acknowledged as an exceptional food for patients suffering from arthritis. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower inflammation. In a pan, heat butter, garlic, and basil, and mix all three well. Lather this mixture thoroughly on about five pieces of salmon and squeeze some lemon over each. Wrap these in a foil, put them on a baking sheet, and bake for 15-20 minutes.

5. Vegetable ginger soup
Vegetable soup provides the body with a good amount of vitamins, minerals, and iron. And ginger has excellent anti-inflammatory properties that help in lowering pain. Heat some olive oil in a stock pot and add chopped onion, celery, and carrots to it. Add garlic, ginger, and chicken broth, and let the mixture boil. Add cubed chicken breast and let it cook. Remove it and let it cool before shredding it and adding it back to the pot. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes and serve.
